DPIA (data protection impact assessment) is a risk assessment process outlined in the requirements of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). A DPIA helps an organisation make an early evaluation of the impact a business process might have on the privacy of the individuals involved and ensures compliance with the UK DPA (Data Protection Act) 2018 and the GDPR. Organisations are also required to perform a DPIA where the processing of personal data involves a high risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals.
